I cannot believe it has already been two weeks since my birthday and I still haven’t posted a single thing about it (except on the Facebook page). Certain health concerns took priority over almost everything else, and for that I deeply apologize. For now, lets take the time to warp back to my birthday! As a heads up, this isn’t going to be a fast read, this may actually be the longest blog post I have ever posted. Most are short and sweet, as I normally feel too shy to share and like whatever I have to say isn’t worth saying.
My Birthday 2017
The Dreaded Doctors Appointment
The morning started out different from others, usually we wake up and get my husband ready and off to work. This morning I had to wake up everyone and get everyone ready to go to my doctor’s appointment. Baby Girl, who is officially two as of April, is not a fan of mornings but she woke up in a better mode than expected. We get to my appoint right on time (one day I need to do a post about just how long it takes to get ready now days). I check in only to be pulled to the back due to insurance issues.
My husband is a union member, our insurance is through the union, there should be no insurance issues. Sure enough though, it is saying I have no health coverage and only have dental despite the fact that I should have health, dental, and vision. After they make notes on the account that I do have coverage (at my insistence) I call the insurance company for them to tell me that even though I’ve used the health coverage since March of 2017 (I have the statements where they have paid many doctors bills for me), I have never had anything other than dental through them.
The entire time I am arguing with them, I am also peeing in a cup and then getting my vitals taken. Talking on the phone while at the checkout, at the doctor’s office, at ANYWHERE public when dealing with someone who is ‘serving’ you is extremely rude and I felt so bad. The need for answers was strong though. I was getting nowhere anyways, so I ended the call. If I may brag for a minute, my blood pressure was still amazing and while I am still overweight, I have not gained any weight back since my May check-up. In fact, I’ve managed to lose ten pounds since May and somehow… keep it off. I’m still fat, don’t get me wrong, but loosing weight cannot be my focus at the moment – due to health concerns.
Anyways, on to my actual appointment, everything looks fine for the moment – nothing has changed. Get told to go to the labs and get blood work drawn. Joy! Needles and I skipped breakfast. This proving to be an amazing day, right? Despite my nervousness, the actually process was actually pretty quick (I got the good nurse, that knows what she is doing and somehow – the needles don’t hurt when she does it). After this I get told that the results should be in between 3-10 days. We leave to get Chick-Fil-A – yumm.
On the way to get food I called his union and even though they had no record of me ever having more than dental either (what in the world – I still don’t know!), they fixed it and back dated both the Health and Vision to March of 2017. Issue resolved!
A Short Trip by the House
Unfortunately, in our rush to get out the door that morning, neither me or my husband remembered to grab the stroller. We get home, get it loaded up and get ready to go just as UPS deliveries a package. My husband is often ordering things offline for his bike, his computer, his hobbies, ect. I never complain cause I am just as bad. I have author’s that send me ARCs unexpectedly, I order a ton of books, I have expensive hobbies that I buy stuff for all the time as well. His name is on the box, the package is heavy and we team lift it into the house. “What did you buy now” I remember asking him, my voice filled with annoyance. “It’s for you.” He said, opening the box.
Shocked, slightly, I made my way over. Baby Girl and me opened it after he cut the tape. This man, he ordered me the one item on my wish list that I would never in a million freaking years order for myself – a photo studio! [Flash forward to July 26th, 2017 – I still haven’t found the time to set this bad boy up!]
Anyways, shortly there after, we departed the house and took off to the Aquarium.
I am not sure how many states / aquariums offer this, but in Georgia if you go to the aquarium on your birthday and show your ID, it’s FREE! I honestly believe this will be the last year we take advantage of that on my birthday cause the place was PACKED! It was so worth it though, because Baby Girl was free too (2 and under = always free). We only had to buy my Husbands ticket ($42.50 after tax). It is a god deal, it really is, but before I go deeper into this story I feel the need to say something. This idea was 100% my own, I was insistent that Baby Girl was old enough, even though my sweet, darling husband told me many time she was not. I had faith that she was, he had the undying belief that this trip was not going to be all fun like I was imagining. Who do you think was right?! I’ll give you a hint, it’s rarely me.
It started out okay. The first thing we saw was the sea-lion exhibit, and from there we moved on to the Dolphin Celebration show. It was a disaster! She was screaming and upset practically the entire time, until they started jumping out of the water and doing the tricks. After we left that we went and saw the beluga and the whale sharks and went around and see some more of the exhibits that I cannot remember the name of. The aquarium has a couple of touch tanks – one of which is sea stars and other such animals. A bunch of adults and older kids refused to let Baby Girl pet them. One of them, a teenage boy, pushed her out-of-the-way. I was really shocked I held my tempter. After the touch tank fail, we went to eat food. Yummy, but pricey!
After we got our food, we opted to find the second touch tank and we had more luck there. Baby Girl got to pet a sting ray! Over all, her favorite parts were finding ‘Dory’, seeing ‘Bailey’ and ‘Destiny’ from Finding Dory, the jelly fish and hte last touch tank. I have included pictures of Dory, the jellies, and the last touch tank in this post.
As we were leaving we exited through the gift shop. I have a story that y’all may find funny for that moment of our trip, but it needs to wait until I make a rather big announcement. So keep and eye out for that post.
The Trip Home
Was pretty uneventful, even after the gift shop incident (I promise, it’s worth the wait!). My lovely husband stopped by Firehouse Subs on the way home so that I could get my FREE medium birthday sub. Everyone should know about this program / offer from them. It used to be as simple as showing your ID and getting one, but now days you have to be signed up for the rewards program on their site. You can do it here, but please note… you much be signed up for it BEFORE your birthday to get the free sub.
Anyways, I really hope that you guys enjoyed this post. Over time I will be including more and more personal post on this site as a way to get my voice out there like I originally intended this site to do. I had managed to lose my voice somehow and I was afraid to let it be heard. The pictures on this post will also be uploaded to the blogs Facebook page and can already be found on our FlickR account here.
